SEATTLE, June 27, 2005 - The Japanese-speaking community already relies on Junglecity for news and information about Seattle and Washington state--and now with the launch of the site's new Travel section, users will be able to access detailed visitor's information about other US cities in their native language.
Beginning June 27, 2005, visitors to Junglecity will find a new section at the site, under www.junglecity.com/travel/. The first location added is Louisiana, with a particular focus on New Orleans--it's the internet's very first professionally-created, comprehensive site for Japanese visitors to the Crescent City. Junglecity created it through extensive research with the assistance of the New Orleans Metropolitan Convention and Visitors' Bureau (NOMCVB) and Mikazuki Connection, a New Orleans-based destination management company. Basic history and geography are included, as well as event and area guides for sightseeing, shopping, gambling and dining. Accommodations, spas, sporting events and jazz clubs will all be included, along with famous sites from popular movies and daily trip-planning assistance.
Junglecity founder Takumi Ono plans on adding a number of additional medium-sized cities to the site, with the idea of showing travelers a wide variety of cultures and environments within the US. Each new section will aim at business and pleasure travelers, rather than residents, while the Seattle/Washington section of the site will remain focused on a mix.
Junglecity currently sees over 21,000 unique viewers every week, adding up to an impressive 2,000,000 or more page views per month. Japanese tourists from other parts of US and countries including Japan and Canada rely on Junglecity mostly for restaurant/hotel/club/event/sightseeing guide in addition to communicating with Japanese residents through bulletin boards (divided into 17 categories and receive minimum 1,000 postings a week) . Seattle's sizable Japanese-speaking community accesses Junglecity for daily news updates, events calendars, a parenting network, columns written by Japanese professionals and, of course, regular Mariners updates. It helps members of the community to get connected--and stay that way.
